LEGACY SESSIONS

END-OF-LIFE & SENIOR

PHOTOGRAPHY FOR DOGS & HORSES

Celebrating the life and legacy you share.

I am glad you found this. Whether you are celebrating a senior or saying goodbye, this is for you.

Legacy Sessions are end-of-life and senior photography sessions for dogs and horses, serving Emerald Isle, Morehead City, Beaufort and all of Carteret County on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. They are for dogs age 10 and up, with exceptions for giant breeds, for horses age 20 and up, and for any dog or horse facing a terminal diagnosis.

I lost my own heart dog, Maddox, so I understand the pain that comes with saying goodbye. A Legacy Session is built to hold what it felt like to love them, while you still can.

Some families want quiet portraits of the bond they share right now. Others want me to come along, documentary style, for a last day or a last adventure together. Both are Legacy Sessions.

IN THE TIMING

A DAY TOO EARLY IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN A DAY TOO LATE

So many people wait. They think there will be more time, or that it will be too sad to document. And then the time is gone, and they realize they do not have the thing they actually wanted.

Yes, it can be sad. It can also be one of the most loving things you do for them. A Legacy Session holds both, sometimes in the same hour.

If something has changed, this is the sign. Your dog or horse does not need to be young, well, or perfect for this to matter. I keep room in my schedule for Legacy Sessions, so you do not have to wait the usual lead time.

WHAT TO EXPECT

GENTLE, UNHURRIED, AND BUILD AROUND THEM

WE START WITH A CONVERSATION

Before the session, we talk about who they are. Their personality, their favorite things to do, the places that belong to them. You can ask me anything, and there is no pressure.

WHEREVER THEY ARE MOST COMFORTABLE

Sessions happen at home, at your barn or property, outdoors, or in my studio, wherever your dog or horse is most at ease.

Favorite toys and sentimental objects are welcome, and so is whoever is part of their story.

If moving is hard, we work around it. For dogs that can mean stationary positioning, a wagon, or a dog stroller. There is no time limit, so the session follows their abilities and is never rushed. I will be with you through all of it.

IN THEIR WORDS

  • "Jennifer is one amazing soul. Her love for animals shows through and through. If you're debating on doing end of life photos for your pup don't - just do it. I promise it's so very worth it. She took her time with our shoot and let Kaida go at her own pace and captured her personality with every shot. I knew I'd want these photos- but even more so now that my girl is gone."

  • "I was not ready to say goodbye to my loyal companion Oscar. A close friend spoke highly of her photographer friend to capture end of life photos. There are no regrets! Jennifer took some awesome photos of my senior 14 year old fur baby. Moments we will always cherish. Thank you!!"
